              Butterfly Study
Dimensions: 6 x6"
Materials: Assemblage
Year: 2018
This little study I did of a purple spotted butterfly is a trickery of the eye… at first glance, looks like a regular ol’ butterfly but in fact this butterfly is an exaggeration; it is a collage, a distortion of multiple butterflies. Our brain tends to fill in the blanks when we are looking at something really quickly with memory of ‘what is butterfly’. A survival instinct possibly? A quick understanding of your surroundings? Active Interpretation or the Troxler Effect are theories behind this visual brain phenomenon… I promise they are both interesting reads, especially if you ever played the Bloody Mary game… and saw something lurking in the shadows…

              Pans
SOLD - this piece is a ode to my love for Pans Labyrinth's faeries. It was a piece that came from my heart and for fun. The best part of working with insects is that they tell you what they can or cannot do. But a faerie... that was a form it already knew.

              Arachnophobia
SOLD - My love of spiders actually has a dark side. A phobia. But with fear there is admiration. Don't we love the things that are bad for us? Now that I have 3 pet tarantula's now, I have to agree. The macabre is just too fascinating
